1000 miles in the books.

Let me first clear something up. I did not get out on Christmas Day for a run like planned. To be honest this big body (more on that later) needed a rest. 10 days in a row was a lot for me and the body was happy to take the day off.

But I was 10.6 miles away as of Christmas Day and I got in 5.6 miles at about 8 pm last night and since I am off today and will not be able to run tonight, I got up and out this morning for 5.5 miles. So that completed the 1000 for the year. Last night was on the treadmill and it was actually a good run. Today was in a little rain and not as good. Don't think the body was as recovered as it would have liked to have been. But none the less I got it done.

As for the big body comment above. My weight is climbing and I really need to focus on that. And that is going to happen now. I have started (just yesterday) logging all food that I take in with my trusted www.calorieking.com site. It may seem obsessive to some but it is a necessity for me if I am going to keep the weight in check. I hit 217 in the summer, and although this was after a long run that I didn't hydrate well for, it was a major accomplishment. Well yesterday morning I tipped the scales at 241.6 pounds. Can't imagine what that wight would have been if I wasn't running. Knowing myself I am sure I will drop 10 pounds real fast. It is the other 30 I need to work real hard to shed. So the two big things I need to do log the food and go back to recording my weight everyday. This also worked well when I was coming down from 330 pounds. The good news is I know what I have to do to lose the weight and now I just have to stick to it.

I have to go now as I have a date with a 5 year old girl today. I am taking one of my twins daughters to see her first play in Philadelphia today. We are seeing Peter Pan at the Walnut Theater. Kim took Liam to see The Lion King and we will find one to take Kelsey (the other Twin) to. We are trying to do some things individually so they get special time.

My site appearance. I am not set on this skin but until I find what I want (a three column skin) this is what you get. I think it is easier to read then the last one. But I am missing the links to my fellow bloggers. And I am not updating that until I get the skin I like. Yes I lost them as I didn't save them correctly.

Well time to focus on 2008. Swimming and Biking will begin very shortly. I am still working on the 2008 schedule and plan of attack.

Yeah!!! Congrats on reaching 1000 miles in 2007!!! That is awesome!

You're not alone with the weight climbing. Today is my first day of getting serious. I can't wait until Jan. 1 like I usually do. The biking and swimming start again for me, too.

I like the blue color of your blog.

Congratulations Dan! That is an amazing feat... or is it "those are amazing feet"? Either way, that is a great achievement! Keep going! :)

Congratulations! Well done for the 1000 :)

I like the layout/skin/colour - easier to read :) but keep on looking for one you are happy with.

I'm sure the weight loss you want will come. I'm also struggling. Told myself I was going to take it easy over the holiday but ... I didn't. Got to get back on track.

Good luck with logging all your food. I admire people who can do that!

I look forward to following your swimming and biking progress.

Great milestone!! You should be proud.

Unfortunately, I'm climbing too. I think I need an intervention to get me away from the constant munching that has developed through the holiday.

Hey Dan... Big congratulation! It is phenomenal that you have reached 1,000 mile mark.
Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are very common for those whose weight are climbing. You are not alone. Keep up the good work. You will do well once the holidays are over. Keep rocking, dude! BTW, Have a Happy New Year. Look forward to reading your blog in 2008.

Dan, just found your blog through Ted's. We're big fans of Loser and can't wait for the couples one to start next week. Congratulations on the weight loss and the 1,000 miles. Very motivating story. PS - we have a little boy named Liam, too. Old ladies think we're saying "Leon" until we explain that it's the last half of "William".

congrats dan!!! YOU.DID.IT.

all the best of luck and hard work on the weight loss. you'll get there too, just like you did the 1000 miles. it can be difficult to get the fitness and nutrition down simultaneously. what helped for me was to think about everything i ate as potential fuel for what my body needed to perform in the endurance activities i wanted to do. when i started to see the benefits of eating cleaner in my performance, it kept me motivated and i craved the bad food less and less.

i'm only 2.4 miles short of hitting 600, but not sure i'll make it. i'm flat on my back with a torn shoulder waiting to get in to the orthopedist on the 2nd. dummy me just HAD to go surfing on christmas day....

What a great year, Dan. 1000 miles is HUGE!

I hear ya on the diet, too. Seems like the scale is taking it's toll on a lot of us. You know what you need to do and you'll get it done, too.

Wow, Dan! Congratulations on reaching the 1000 mile mark! That is awesome, and you are amazing!

I know what you mean about the weight thing. I gained almost 5 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and still have 100 to lose, so it's time to get serious again. Good luck!

And I love the new blue blog format, too.

Download an evaluation of a little program called LifeForm. I started using it in 2000, I think, and I love it. It does GRAPHS too! Yay!

Hang in there, Don. My weight blimped up to 230 on Christmas Day, si I, too, am in weight management mode. I aim for 195 by Eagleman in June...I dropped 4 this past week...hopefully you will stay focused and drop the necessary pounds. Are you going to the meeting on the 20th (Team TRiumph?). Hopefully I'll see you then.

Blessings,
