Answering questions from comments.

.

Mike over at Sub 6, and Jeff over at Formerly Fat Running Guy asked about the new blog skin. And others also commented on it. To be honest it was after many Google searches that I found it. I searched again to find the site where I got it but was unsuccessful. That being said if anyone wants the Template I would be happy to copy and paste it into an email for you.

Well thanks to my buddy Pat here is a link to where I found the Blog Template.

Di at I Like Big...Bikes asked what races I can be seen at. Don't know if Di meant to "actually" see me, but as I would love to meet her and her not so better half Bigun I am not sure if that will happen this year. But depending on how my half goes on June 1st. I may have to make a trip to IM Louisville or IM MOO to sign up for 2009. Be sure to check out Bigun's new podcast which you can get to from his site.

Bob who is part of Team Triumph and blogs at Tri-Bob mentioned doing more miles in less days with the bike. I think that is the answer. And I will try to implement that this week as long as my butt can stand the bike trainer. I have been using the "Spinervals" DVD's and it does make the time go by. I just have to buy some more as I am getting real tired of the one I have.

Ted at Ted's Running Journal asked if I swim in the Delaware River. Ted knows that the only bodies swimming in the Delaware are dead bodies so no I swim HERE. This is a High School about 13 miles from my house that has a small gym but huge pool. Really a great place to swim. They have a great Master's program but unfortunately the hours don't work for me.

Marcy (everyone knows her) at I signed up for this, and I hopefully will be running the NYC Marathon together this year. Pretty cool that she also is trying to get in the lottery. My fingers are crossed for the both of us.

Be like Jeff

.
Check out my buddy Jeff. He had what he calls his "one minute of fame". Great job Jeff you are kicking ass and you are an inspiration to many. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff in Philadelphia when we both did the Philadelphia Distance Run. And I plan on running the Baltimore Marathon (relay or half for me) this year, they give out great medals.

A great read...

.

For a wealth of information about Nutrition for Endurance Athlete's please check out Chuckie V today.

You didn't think I was talking about my blog for a great read did you?

I have linked my Beginners Triathlete blog/log on the right. I replaced my Running Ahead log. With doing more biking and swimming I think the BT is a better site. If you need a running log by far Running Ahead is a great place to be.

2008 – The “A” Races.

.

Triathlons

In typical Dan fashion I am sure this post will be all over the place. But for 2008 the main focus is going to be Triathlons. And I have two races that will be my main focus and I will fill in the schedule with some other local sprint Tri’s. The furthest Tri in distance is going to be Black Bear.

Black Bear will be a Half Ironman distance. For the non tri people out there (I see my Uncle Jack has been following the blog) that is swim 1.2 miles, cycle 56 miles and then run a ½ marathon (13.1 miles). I wish this race was later in the year but I can't change that so this will take place June 1st. The allure of this race is that it is only minutes from Jim Thorpe Pa. and I have an uncle that has a house up there (uncle Fred is battling some health issues right now but I hope he is well enough to come see me race). I think I can get some other family members (Uncle Jack) to come up as well. My only goal of this race is to finish in the time limit, I say this on Jan 6th and honestly I hope that my goal changes and I set a little time goal as I get closer to the race.

The 2nd “A” race will be NJ State Olympic Distance Tri. This is later in July and I have not set a goal yet, but I will certainly be setting some realistic time goals as the race gets closer. Both these races are put on by CGI Racing who from what I hear put on great races.

The sprints that I will do most likely will come from DQ, and no that is not Dairy Queen, those are the Tri’s I used to compete in.

Running

I again will try to get in the lottery for the ING NYC Marathon. It’s a goal and I just have to do it someday. If I was to get in it is in November and I would know about it in July so I would start the training right after the NJ State Tri. That would give me 3+ months to get ready and I hope to be at a much better fitness at that point. If I do not get in to NYC I am still considering doing Steamtown Marathon in the Fall. But we will see about that. Check out the elevation chart for the Steamtown Marathon. Now that is my kind of race.

Game Time

I got an email from my Father-in-Law that had an attachment to take a test to see if you are smarter than a 5th grader. So if you have a few minutes take the test and post your results in the comments.

Play the Game.

I did take it and I got 15 out of 19 correct for a 79%. I will tell you that when I was in the 5th grade I might have only got 3 out of the 19 correct. I was not a great student but I tend to be able to hold on to info now. And the way I look at it my Father in Law who is a Wharton Grade only got one more right then me so it can't be all that bad.
