The 4 letter word..

Yes it has come to this my friends. My kids and Kim have instituted the Swear Jar. I now have to put in a quarter every time the kids hear me say the dreaded word. "We" set this up yesterday and there is now $1.00 in the jar. Kim told them when it gets to $50.00 they can buy a new Wii game.

Truth be told I should not be saying the word as it sounds so unintelligent and worse than that my 7 year old son has started saying it now. So I will now attempt to stop saying "AIN'T".

Yes I know it is not one of the 7 words that you can't say on television but like I said I need to stop to set a better example. They do love catching me though and they do want to get to $50.00. Kim told them that I have to say it 200 times to equal $50.00 so now they keep asking how many more times does daddy have to say it?

So I promise that I ain't (will not) say it any more. Do I owe a quarter for that?

Funny.
And you are exactly right. My mom treated it as a swear word too when we were growing up for the exact same reason - it makes you sound common and uneducated. That is also the woman who made me bite a bar of soap for saying "P.O.ed", the initials, not the word, so go figure.

Yikes, I'd have to deposit at least 50 cents every time because after getting caught I'd swear again.

You can take the man out of the Marines but you can't take the Marine out of the man...either that or you just can't take me out in public, either way...

That's pretty funny!

Reminds me of the swear jar Budweiser commercial!

Ain't that a shame!

Let us know in 50 days whether it worked in reducing your swearing, or whether your kids used it as a way to reguarly get new Wii games. Leaving things around for you to trip up on, and then expressing yourself!

I think your daughter should have to contribute for "ASS MAIL" too!!!! LOL! This cracked me up!!!

Good luck with that, Dan.

I tried something similar in my house -- every time the kids leave a light on, it costs them a quarter from their allowance.

I haven't paid them in months! Somehow it hasn't had the desired effect. Hope you do better!

That ain't right, Dan! Where I come from, ain't is a real verb.

My friends give me a hard time because sometimes I say "use to could"..like "I use to could do that!"

Where I grew up you had to master the art of saying that word, right along with "pertnear" and "fixin' to". Ain't no wrong with slangin' the language a little, long as there ain't no cursin'.
