Faking it.

This year we made the decision to go with a artificial Christmas Tree. This was a hard decision for me as I have had a real tree for as long as I could remember. That's not entirely true as I can remember when we lived in an apartment in Jersey City when I was a real young boy having a artificial tree. But then when my parents bought a house in Old Bridge we went with the real deal.

We have noticed in the past few years the quality of the real trees going way down in New Jersey. And then when Christmas is over we just discard it to the street. Doesn't seem like the "greenest" thing to do. So as I went kicking and screaming I went and bought this tree yesterday. We got it up and the kids had just as much fun decorating this one as any other in the past. And we even got the one with the lights already on it.

Now I just have to go out and buy some real tree spray to have the full effect.

You're not alone, I just put my fake tree up this weekend. Driving around the day after Christmas and seeing all the trees on the curbs is all the encouragement I need.

We went artificial a few years back. Trees were costing upward of $50 around AZ. Our tree was bought at a garage sale and it looks fine.

Hope all is well at the Obrats Ranch!

You'll grow to love it! Really! Growing up we ALWAYS had real trees but then I got married, had kids, and switched. Soooo much easier to take care of and you can put it up early. Bonus!

We also switched about 3-4 years ago. Every now and then I wish for the real thing but I am happy to not have to care for a tree at this time of year!

Seems kinda odd to "go green" by ditching the real tree and replacing it with plastic!

Just saying.

I cannot stand having a real tree. I just keep sneezing all the time. I like going "GREEN". Save TREES !!! Way to go for going "GREEN".

One could argue that, although you had a real tree in the past, you made it fake with the flock. Therefore you have nothing to worry about with the fake tree. They're extremely handy, fast to set up, and no mess when you take them down. I've been using an artificial tree for many years. And hey, at least yours isn't aluminum like the trees on A Charlie Brown Christmas. I kid you not, we had one growing up.
